How and why elements can shift on your live Showit site

There are a number of settings within the Showit Design App that can affect the way elements in your site shift or move around.

Image Placement

You can adjust the size and placement settings of your images to get them positioned exactly where you want them.

If you feel like an image might have a mind of its own and moved when you weren't looking, there are a few places to look for what could be causing this.

You can check to see if an Edge Locking setting is turned on by clicking on your image and then choosing the Size & Position tab in the right side Properties Panel. Try turning this function off and checking the live site once more. Check out this article here to find out how to get the most out of Edge Locking.

Canvas Background Images Are Getting Cut Off

You can set an image as a Canvas Background in Showit. This will force the image to fit the entire display from left to right on a canvas, which can make it seem as though parts of the top or bottom of an image are cut off when viewed on a wider display.

You can test what your canvas background images might look like on different sized displays by adjusting your window size. To do this, click and drag the side of the window to cause it to be narrower or use the zoom adjustment function in your browser.

A quick and simple fix for this would be adjusting the canvas height to display more of the background image.

Text Placement & Spacing

If your text is overlapping or not displaying correctly on your live site, check out some of these options below:

Note: Some custom fonts may display differently on different browsers. You can try accommodating for this difference by enlarging the text box or by trying a different font.

Centering & Alignment

There are tools built into the Showit Design App that will allow you to align multiple elements.

Blog Design

If your blog templates look great in the design app but the live blog looks all wrong, don't worry, we've got you covered!

Still Having Trouble?

If you are sure that everything is set correctly and your live site still looks wrong, there may be a publishing issue. If you aren't seeing an error when you try publishing, you may need to clear your browser cache.

If all else fails reach out to Showit's Support Team by clicking on the chat icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.
