If you have a video that you would like to add to your Showit site that isn't hosted somewhere on YouTube or Vimeo, you can add it as an MP4 to your page directly from your Media Library.

Note: MP4 files added this way cannot exceed 8mb. In order to display larger videos on your site, consider using Vimeo or YouTube.

Adding an MP4 Video

To add an MP4 video to your page, click on the element icon in the bottom toolbar, then choose the Video option from the drop down. You can then resize and place the video widget on your canvas.

Once your video widget is placed where you would like it, click on the widget and then go to the Video tab in the right side properties panel. Next to the Source option, select Media Library.

Then under video, select the icon that says Choose Video. This will allow you to choose an MP4 video that has been uploaded to your Media Library to display in this widget.

Note: MP4 files added this way cannot exceed 8mb. In order to display larger videos on your site, consider using Vimeo or YouTube.

Once your video is on your page, it won't immediately play in the design app. You can see your live video in preview or on your published site.

MP4 Video Settings

Now that your video is on your page, there are a few things you can adjust it and make sure your video is playing the way you would like it to.

  • Resize to Aspect Ratio

    • Resizes the video widget so that it fits the videos original aspect ratio.

  • Autoplay (muted)

    • Your video will autoplay when someone visits yours page, but it will be automatically muted. Most browsers will mute auto-playing videos automatically to improve user experience.

  • Loop

    • Allows the video to loop once it has finished playing.

  • Show Controls

    • Adds controls to a video so that visitors to your site can pause and play the video at will.
