This article will aim to answer questions surrounding our Acceptable Use Policy which is a clarifying arm of our overall Terms of Service specifically as it pertains to objectionable material.
Here is that clause for clarity:
All users are subject to Showit’s Acceptable Use Policy. Users acknowledge and agree that pornography, nudity of any kind, adult-related or sexually explicit content, promotion of adult services, content that is objectionable, harmful, threatening, abusive, hateful, obscene, harassing, tortious, defamatory, libelous, slanderous, profane, vulgar, offensive, lewd, invasive of another’s privacy, and/or otherwise infringing or illegal content are not permitted on Showit. Showit reserves the right, in its sole and exclusive discretion, to remove content considered to fall under these categories and/or permanently remove access to a user’s Showit website for any violation of the foregoing.
Thankfully, we rarely encounter sites on our platform dealing with most of these items. However, we do recognize the sizeable number of photography, specifically boudoir sites which have made their home on the web with Showit.
Since we serve a large and diverse group of creators on the Showit platform it is of the utmost importance that our content servers work to everyone's benefit. It becomes tricky in the presence of fully nude or sexually implicit content which have the possibility of getting our servers flagged for such material and thus resulting in adverse effects for all our users. That is a risk we simply cannot take to serve our entire user base well.
So in that spirit, we want to bring clarity here as to what is or is not acceptable. Any material deemed unacceptable by Showit is subject to a removal request if deemed necessary and if that request is not responded to or carried out within the stated amount of time, your site may be taken offline until that material is removed.
As it pertains to nudity
A general way to put it is think to yourself - could I post this on Instagram without it being taken down? If the answer is yes, it is probably ok here. Now we know that is a subjective definition so we will specify further below.
Nudity
Full nudity is not allowed and will result in our team reaching out to ask you to remove or edit that content.
Images including nudity must not show female nipples or the exposed groin area of men or women.
However, if these areas are obscured or covered with a piece of clothing, a hand, hair, etc and those specific body parts cannot be seen in the image, they are permittable. Alternatively, you can also blur the image in those areas or use something like a paint swipe as many do on platforms like Instagram to cover those areas of the body.
Sexually Implicite Material
Any material that implies a sexual act is taking place is not permitted. If the subjects are clothed in the material and it can be obviously understood this is not material depicting a sexual act then it is permitted. If subjects are fully nude, but you cannot see nipples or exposed groin but the subjects are situated as such that it looks like a sexual act is happening in the material, that is not permitted and will be subject to a removal request from our team.
We hope this helps clarify these topics and questions and we thank you for taking the time to understand these policies. We are not trying to imply your artwork is bad or stifle your business through these measures, we simply are working to keep our entire user base safe. By taking these steps we can ensure our content servers remain in the clear and all Showit users have the best website possible experience.
