Updates to Showit subscription management through Chargebee

On August 4th, 2021 Showit began the migration of our subscription billing to a new service called Chargebee. With the incredible growth we have experienced over the past few years, it was necessary to upgrade our subscription management to a service dedicated to subscription billing. The process for researching, testing, and coding all the necessary changes to Showit to support this new platform has been a work in progress over the past year. The intended plan for the switch over to this new platform was supposed to be seamless to our customers, as all of our credit card data is stored securely with Stripe and was not changed during the transition.

Failed Credit Card Issues

However, there were a few issues that have not made this switch seamless. For some customers, previous credit cards that were used for subscriptions got activated as the primary credit card. This resulted in some failed payments for customers who had updated their credit card used for billing their subscription since their initial subscription payment. This resulted in notifications and requests to update payment information on very outdated card data. We apologize to the customers that experienced this, our system was not hacked, but we appreciate your help in updating your card data and re-activating your subscription.

In addition, if you had a credit card payment fail prior to our switch in payment systems, the emails and links in the emails may no longer work as they direct you to the old system. To update your billing information and to ensure that the correct credit card will continue to be used to make sure your website stays online, please login to your account profile and click on the Manage Subscription button.

For all subscription payments to Showit, email receipts will be noted as being created by Chargebee and they will include an attached PDF invoice.

Taxes for Additional States

For customers in states where Showit has enough sales to be considered as having an Economic Nexus, we will begin collecting sales tax as required by each individual state law. Please also ensure that the billing address in your subscription profile matches the appropriate city and state so that the correct taxes will be collected. Since Showit is located in Arizona, we have always collected Arizona sales tax. The states that will begin collecting sales tax will be updated below:

  • District of Columbia

  • Hawaii

  • Louisiana

  • Maryland

  • Massachusetts

  • Ohio

  • Pennsylvania

  • South Carolina

  • South Dakota

  • Tennessee

  • Texas

  • Utah

  • Washington

  • West Virginia
